Philippe Aïni (French, born 1952) Portrait in the Style of Bacon Wallpaper. Height: 64, Width: 57 cm. Provenance: collection of Laurent Danchin (1946–2017), writer, essayist, and art critic, passed down through the family. Born in Bordeaux, Aïni left his job as a pastry chef at the age of twenty-four to devote himself to art. Self-taught, he refused to align himself with any particular movement. His mixtures of mattress stuffing and glue became a malleable paste well-suited for sculpture.
