Unknown (19th century), Hilly countryside near Weilburg, 1834, Pencil Unknown (19th century): Forest and hilly landscape near Weilburg, 1834, Pencil Technique: Pencil on cardboard Date: 1834 Description: A landscape drawing executed with a sharp pencil, depicting a hilly landscape with scattered farmsteads and monastery buildings. In the foreground, a dense wooded area is visible, where the anonymous artist found a vantage point offering a good view. Inscribed and dated in pencil on the reverse: “Weilburg on the 17th of Octo: 1834.” The drawing was created by an unknown English traveler who was traveling through Hesse in the 19th century.
