Inscribed below: "De danske Udsendinge méde nadd for Vordingborg Carl Gustav der er på vej med sin [?] til Hovedstaden [?]" Date: 1883 Description: Design of a history scene in an elaborate castle or palace. Showing a young couple at the fireplace, each indulging in their own thoughts. The clothing of the figures is only hinted at. Posture studies of the scene are visible at the top and bottom. On the reverse side two small history scenes with army trains and horsemen are depicted. The drawing comes from a collection of history and saga depictions with Nordic scenes and themes by the hand of the Danish artist Rondahl, who made a name for himself especially as a draughtsman. He provided the designs for numerous historical, archaeological and literary writings.
