Dated on the reverse: “August 1875.” On the verso is a sketchy variation of the scene Date: 1875 Description: An ancient scene at the bedside of a woman. Her hand is held by a bearded man with a halo, who can be identified as Jesus Christ. The drawing is part of a collection of historical and saga illustrations featuring Nordic scenes and themes by the Danish artist Rondahl, who made a name for himself particularly as a draftsman. He provided the illustrations for numerous historical, archaeological, and literary works.
