"Esquisses faites par le Baron Edmond de Bretenières feudant les voyages en Suisse" (Sketches made by Baron Edmond de Bretenieres during his travels in Switzerland). This finely drawn pencil sketch shows an Alpine mountain landscape with a series of peaks and valleys. The lines are light and sketchy, giving the scene an airy, fleeting quality. The mountains in the background are indicated in soft contours, while more detailed lines in the foreground suggest the shape of the vegetation and terrain.
