LESAGE, Alain-René, and GARGANI, Achille (trans.). *Il Baccelliere di Salamanca o Memorie e Avventure di don Cherubino della Ronda*. Unpublished manuscript of an Italian translation of *The Bachelor of Salamanca*, Lesage’s final novel. No place, no date [first half of the 19th century]. 1 volume, large quarto, green Russian half-leather edged with a gold garland, smooth spine with gold and blind-stamped decorations. 306 pages in brown ink (302 x 210 mm), ruled in the margins with graphite and at the top with ink. Binding moderately rubbed, covers slightly sun-faded with a circular stain on the front cover, small tear on the inner margin of the title page. Unpublished manuscript of this Italian translation by a certain Achille Gargani of Lesage’s *The Bachelor of Salamanca*. This translation does not appear to have led to a printed edition, since the only published version is that by Lorenzo Tassi, published by Truffi in 1837. (See *Bibliografia italiana*, Year 4, No. 2, February 1838, p. 31 regarding the 1837 translation). A fine, very fresh manuscript that deserves to be rediscovered and published.
