BON A’ TIRER. A unique archival poster, collectively signed by a large group of 20th-century masters of the arts who frequented and collaborated with the famous Bon à Tirer gallery and printing house. In the lower left corner, in small print, is the typographic mark “MONETA - MILANO,” a historic and renowned Milanese graphic design and printing firm, Grafiche Moneta, which specialized in the highest-quality printing of art catalogs, posters, and artist-designed posters on behalf of Milan’s most prestigious galleries. A collector’s item published directly by the gallery, which geographically and historically maps the network of cultural connections during that extraordinary artistic period in Milan in 1977. The wording refers to the historic “Bon à Tirer” Art Gallery, active in Milan during the 1970s and located precisely at Via Fatebenefratelli 38. An original advertising print produced and distributed by this historic Milanese institution. “Bon à tirer”—literally “ready to print”—is the technical term used in the jargon of fine art printing to denote the final artist’s proof approved and signed by the artist, used as the official template for the entire subsequent print run. Via Fatebenefratelli 38 in Milan was the headquarters of the Milanese gallery and print shop, founded and directed by Arabella Giorgi, who collaborated with and hosted exhibitions by some of the greatest artists of the late 20th century, such as Remo Bianco, Fernando De Filippi, Leonardo Sinisgalli, and many others (source: SBN and the Giorgio de Marchis Bonanni d’Ocre Foundation).
