Adapted from Charlotte Armstrong’s novel *The Balloon Man*, *La Rupture* transforms a family conflict into a psychological thriller about manipulation and class dynamics. Married to Claude Chabrol from 1964 to 1980, Audran was also one of his leading actresses: her aloof elegance and restraint become, in this film, the tools of a character confronted with escalating social violence.
