92 - YVONNE ROMAIN AND OLIVER REED

YVONNE ROMAIN AND OLIVER REED During the filming of Terence Fisher's Hammer film "The Curse of the Werewolf" (La Nuit du loup-garou), 1961. Photo, vintage silver print, stamped and annotated on the back 25.5 x 21 cm Note: Yvonne Romain plays a young, mute maid who is raped and gives birth to Leon before dying. As an adult, played by Oliver Reed, Leon discovers that a curse linked to the circumstances of his conception transforms him into a werewolf. The two actors thus portray a mother and her son at different points in the story and do not share any scenes: their appearance together in this photograph is likely a still from filming or a promotional shot. Adapted from Guy Endore’s novel *The Werewolf of Paris*, the film gave Oliver Reed his first major role and marked Hammer’s only foray into the werewolf mythos.
