87 - SILVANA MANGANO AND TERENCE STAMP

SILVANA MANGANO AND TERENCE STAMP Scene from Pier Paolo Pasolini’s film “Teorema” (Theorem), 1968. Photograph, vintage silver print, stamped and annotated on the back. 18.2 x 24 cm. Note: Silvana Mangano plays Lucia, the mother of a wealthy Milanese industrialist family, while Terence Stamp portrays a mysterious visitor whose identity and nature are never explained. The stranger seduces each member of the family in turn, as well as their servant, before disappearing as suddenly as he arrived. His departure triggers a profound existential crisis for everyone: Lucia seeks to recapture that revelation through new encounters, while the family’s and society’s equilibrium crumbles. Almost entirely devoid of dialogue, *Teorema* blends sexuality, mysticism, and a critique of the bourgeoisie in a deliberately enigmatic parable.
