BRIGITTE BARDOT AND SEAN CONNERY During the filming of Edward Dmytryk’s Western “Shalako,” 1968. Photo, vintage silver gelatin print on cardstock, stamped and annotated on the back. 29.7 x 23.8 cm. Note: Sean Connery plays Shalako, a former cavalry officer turned guide, while Brigitte Bardot plays the French countess Irina Lazaar. Having gone hunting with a group of European aristocrats on Apache territory in New Mexico, Irina is rescued by Shalako, who then attempts to lead the expedition to a fort. Adapted from the novel by Louis L’Amour, this British Western brings together two major international stars of the 1960s. Although the story is set in the United States, the exterior scenes were primarily filmed in the Almería region of Spain.
