In 1902 Karl Groß brought him to Dresden, where he ran his workshop in Löscherstraße and taught at the School of Arts and Crafts. As a member of the Deutscher Werkbund he headed the Neue Werkbundgruppe für Goldschmiedekunst and worked for the city of Dresden and its council treasury; for the table centrepiece "Tulpenbaum" he received a gold medal in 1906. His five children also became goldsmiths, and the workshop later divided into the firms Hans Ehrenlechner and Hermann und Fritz Ehrenlechner. Filigree decoration of silver wire is also found on the workshop's jewellery, for example on a necklace from circa 1910.
