Voigtlaender Ultramatic CS Single Lens Reflex Camera with Color-Skopar X, Brunswick Metal, imitation leather, glass. Single lens reflex camera with a chromed top plate and a black imitation leather covering, inscribed „Voigtländer" and „Ultramatic CS". The lens inscribed „Voigtländer Color-Skopar X 1:2,8/50", in front of it the leaf shutter „Synchro-Compur" with rings for shutter speed and aperture, the scale for film speed in DIN and the flash synchronisation selector „V X M". The rewind button is on the top, the shutter release button on the front. On the base plate the chromed rapid wind lever with the frame counter and the tripod thread, on the back the inscription „Made in West Germany". Good condition commensurate with age, the body with minimal scratches and dents, rubbed in places The Ultramatic CS was the top model of Voigtländer in Brunswick in the early 1960s and one of the few single lens reflex cameras with a leaf shutter instead of the usual focal plane shutter; this allows flash synchronisation at all shutter speeds. The elaborate construction with a pre-releasing mirror and a leaf shutter was regarded as technically demanding and made the camera expensive. The Color-Skopar is the development of the classic four-element Skopar computed for colour photography.
