G. Negri, pumpkin still life, three pumpkins on black ground, painter from Felonica, dated 1985 Pastel/paper, signed in white lower right "G. Negri" and dated (19)85, dated more precisely lower left "15-XII-85", on the reverse a newspaper cutting "Album" (September 1986) on Girolamo Negri with illustration "Natura morta, 1985", still life with three pumpkins on a dark table edge against a black ground, on the left a grey-green flat pumpkin, on it a small orange-red warty ornamental gourd, on the right a large red-brown pumpkin with a long curved stalk, good condition commensurate with age, image 23x30.5 cm (HxW), passe-partout, glazed, framed, frame slightly chipped, overall 49.5x57 cm (HxW) Girolamo Negri was a painter from Felonica in the province of Mantua; since 2017 the municipality in Lombardy has been part of Sermide e Felonica. In 1986 the Mantuan magazine "Album" presented him as a painter of the first rank ("pittore di primo piano"). The date "15-XII-85" follows the Italian convention with the month in Roman numerals. As a natura morta, the pumpkin still life is an Italian pastel showing a still life with pumpkins against a black ground.
