"ITC" porcelain manufactory Rococo-style ornamental vase, "Sonder Edition", cobalt blue and gilt Porcelain, cobalt blue and gilt, glazed. Ornamental vase in Rococo style, "ITC" porcelain manufactory, "Sonder Edition". Bulbous body on a waisted stem and relief base with rocaille feet, flared, shaped scalloped rim, two pierced rocaille handles at the sides, decorated with white, gilt rocailles and foliage on a cobalt blue ground. On the front a white reserve with printed decor, a female nude before an architectural backdrop with a seated figure in front of her. Underside with the gold round mark "ITC Sonder Edition Porzellan Manufaktur" with monogram "PMI" and stars. Good condition commensurate with age, gilding and decor minimally rubbed. H. 39 cm. 360-degree photo available on our website. The Rococo followed the Régence and the late Baroque from about 1730 to 1780. The style takes its name from the rocaille, the French word for shellwork, derived from roc for rock and coquille for shell. This ornament differs from Baroque forms in its asymmetry and became the leitmotif of the style. The period saw the spread of European porcelain production from Meissen, with manufactories such as Nymphenburg, Sèvres and Capodimonte.
