Two KPM Berlin Plates with Flower Bouquet and Scattered Flowers, Reliefzierat Form Porcelain, one plate with two cancellation strokes, polychrome painted and gilt, glazed. Two plates by the Royal Porcelain Manufactory Berlin, Reliefzierat form, with a shaped and scalloped edge and a rim in basketweave relief; the edge with a gold scrolling band and a gold line. In each well a polychrome flower bouquet, on the first plate with a yellow iris, on the second with a yellow ranunculus and a purple rose; scattered flowers distributed over the rims. On the bases the underglaze blue sceptre mark. Condition commensurate with age, gilding rubbed, one plate with a chip to the foot ring. D. 25 cm each. The form was designed in 1765 for the Neues Palais in Potsdam and belongs to the service forms that Frederick the Great ordered from the Berlin manufactory. Streublumen is the technical term for the single blossoms distributed across the surface which have served since the 18th c. as accompanying decoration to a larger bouquet. Cancellation strokes through the sceptre mark denote second quality ware; they are prompted by minor flaws such as colour inclusions, faults in the decoration or glaze pimples.
