Locomotive and cars: a steam locomotive with tender of the class 18.4 in black with red spoked wheels and red tender chassis, four passenger cars in blue and yellow with silver-coloured roofs and "RHEINGOLD" twice on each, two of them with class numeral "1", two with "2", together with a blue baggage car with silver-coloured roof and roof superstructure. Accompanying booklet with the article "Rheingold - Spitzenzug der Deutschen Reichsbahn und der Mitropa". Played with. The absence of smaller, delicate add-on parts cannot be completely ruled out. Function not tested. On 15 May 1928 the Reichsbahn put the Rheingold into service, a luxury train that ran from Hoek van Holland up the Rhine to Basel. The consist of the prototype included first and second class cars, each also in a version with kitchen, as well as a baggage car; on-board service was provided by Mitropa. Between Zevenaar and Mannheim the train was hauled by express locomotives of the classes 18.4 and 18.5, from Mannheim onwards by the Baden IV h of the class 18.3.
