Märklin 3083 steam locomotive SNCF ÉTAT series 231 in green with tender, gauge H0, orig. packaging Express steam locomotive with tender of the Märklin brand, article number 3083, Pacific of series 231 of the French state railway ÉTAT, gauge H0. Version in green with a black smokebox area and red decorative line, lettering 'ÉTAT', 'Saintes' and running number 231-981. Played-with condition. The electrics respond (light on, motor hums), however the drive is seized due to the long period of standing (gummed up); servicing and cleaning are imperative. In original packaging, box with storage marks. The absence of smaller, delicate add-on parts cannot be entirely ruled out. The track section shown serves only for presentation. The series 231 of the ÉTAT were Pacific express locomotives which hauled the heavy passenger traffic of the French state railway. For this model Märklin used the shape of the Bavarian S 3/6 and gave it the green French version with the depot Saintes, which makes the piece appealing to collectors of international prototypes.
