Märklin SK 800 Streamlined Steam Locomotive Class 06 with Tender, Gauge H0, 1952–1953 Gauge H0 streamlined steam locomotive with tender by Märklin, model SK 800 after the prototype of Class 06 of the Deutsche Reichsbahn. Body and tender of die-cast zinc, painted black with an encircling silver-coloured lining stripe, frame and motion area lined in red, driving wheels with red spokes. The streamlined casing encloses boiler and chassis except for the driving wheels, the boiler bears three dome covers. The chassis is lettered "SK 800", the cast tender bears on both sides the raised lettering "MÄRKLIN" and a star. Three powered axles, twin headlights at the front, cab with cut-out windows, side handrails. Version of 1952–1953 with closed brush housing, wire grab rails and without traction tyres. Played with, showing signs of age. The function of the locomotive has been tested and is given. The absence of smaller, delicate add-on parts cannot be entirely ruled out. The piece of track shown serves for presentation only. 360-degree photo on our website. The SK 800 appeared in 1939 and remained in the range until 1959, one of the longest-lived and among collectors most sought-after models of the 800 series. It was built in numerous variants, from the green first version through the black version from 1940 to the post-war versions. The prototype is the streamlined express locomotive of Class 06, of which only two examples were built in 1939; the model reproduces it shortened by one driving axle. The present piece is the version of 1952 to 1953 with three domes and closed brush housing, still without traction tyres (Koll's Kompaktkatalog Märklin 00/H0, 1983, no. 3007, variant 11). Up to 1948 the model had four domes and up to 1951 an open brush housing; from 1954 it received traction tyres. Recorded in the consignor's collection index since 1982.
