Märklin gauge H0 heavy steam locomotive G 800 class 44 black with tender, 1954 Heavy steam locomotive G 800 with tender, gauge H0, by Märklin in metal construction, after the prototype of class 44. Black livery with red running gear and five coupled driving axles, embossed lettering 'G 800' and 'MÄRKLIN' on the cab. Version with the running number '44066' on the smokebox door and a smooth, rivetless tender body. Played-with condition. The electrics respond (light on, motor hums), however the drive is seized due to the long period of standing (gummed up). Servicing and cleaning are imperative. The track section shown serves only for presentation. The absence of smaller, delicate add-on parts cannot be entirely ruled out. The G 800 reproduces a heavy goods train steam locomotive of class 44 and entered the Märklin range in 1950. A powerful model of the classic 800 series. The first version of 1950 had a riveted tender and the lettering '800' on the smokebox door; from 1951 the smokebox door carried the running number 44066. The present piece is the version of 1954, in which the model received a plastic tender body and traction tyres (Koll's Kompaktkatalog Märklin 00/H0, 1983, G 800, variant 3). Märklin subsequently continued the model under the number 3009. Recorded in the consignor's collection index since 1982.
