Märklin gauge 00 (H0) streamlined steam locomotive SK 800 green with tender, 1940s Streamlined steam locomotive SK 800 with tender, gauge 00 (H0), by Märklin in heavy metal construction. Green livery with gold-coloured decorative lines and red spoked wheels, fully clad streamlined body, embossed lettering 'SK 800' and 'MÄRKLIN' on the cab. Early version with four domes, open brush housing, free-standing wire handrails, bellows and bar coupling on the tender. Played-with condition, the function is present, however in need of servicing due to the long period of standing (cleaning and oiling). The track section shown serves only for presentation. The absence of smaller, delicate add-on parts cannot be entirely ruled out. The SK 800 reproduces a streamlined express locomotive after the prototype of class 06 and is among the most sought-after models of the classic Märklin 800 series (from 1938). A collector's piece of high rank. Märklin introduced the SK 800 in 1939. The early versions up to 1948 have four domes and the 13 mm long 'SK 800' plate; from 1949 the model had three domes and a shorter plate, from 1952 a closed brush housing (Koll's Kompaktkatalog Märklin 00/H0, 1983, no. 3007). The present piece shows the early design with four domes and open brush housing. Recorded in the consignor's collection index since 1982.
