The Royal Order of the Crown was founded on October 18, 1861 by King Wilhelm I on the occasion of his coronation in Königsberg and in the same year was made equal in rank to the Order of the Red Eagle. The Prussian decoration comprised four classes, was worn on a cornflower-blue ribbon and shows the royal crown with the motto "GOTT MIT UNS" in the medallion.
