One of the 110 limited-edition copies reprinted in in-4 tellière format on Lafuma-Navarre laid paper bearing the NRF watermark, 100 of which were intended for the Bibliophiles de la Nouvelle Revue Française. This copy, no. LXXXI, was specially printed for Mr. André T -Charles-Louis PHILIPPE. *La Mère et l'enfant*. Editions de la Nouvelle Revue Française, Paris, 1911. Square in-8, 142 pp. Softcover. High-quality paper. Very good condition. LIMITED EDITION. One of 50 copies reprinted on Arches laid paper, the only high-quality paper used. This is the first complete edition of Charles-Louis Philippe’s (1874–1909) memories of childhood and youth, compiled from the manuscript by André Gide, Henri Bachelin, and Valery Larbaud, and completed on June 12, 1911. To address the criticism that this seven-chapter edition had drawn from some of the author’s friends, the NRF decided to simultaneously publish an abridged version consisting of the first four chapters, consistent with the version Philippe had released in 1900.We are including an interesting autograph manuscript signed by Maurice Beaubourg, a review of the work written upon its publication in 1900.
