DAMON (Hubert, ill.), texts by Andrée Chédid, Jean de Chauveron, Jean Mambrino, Bernard Noël, Jacques Réda, et al. *Le livre de Suèvres*. Suèvres: Maison du Bailli, 1971. Loose-leaf volume in a cream-colored slipcase with a filled cover; the front cover is illustrated in black with a butterfly in flight. 11 color linocuts by Hubert Damon. Limited edition of 65 numbered copies and 24 copies marked “0” and reserved for the artist and collaborators, printed on Rives paper and signed by the artist on the margin. This copy is marked “0” and features warm dedications to Jacques Guignard from Andrée Chédid and Darmon on the half-title page. The artist Hubert Damon illustrated the unpublished poems by the poets who attended this creative workshop on May 29, 30, and 31, 1971, in Suèvres with 11 color linocuts. The result is this unusual volume due to its small print run. Dusty slipcase. A paleographer, archivist, and erudite humanist, Jacques Guignard (1912–1980) devoted his career to the National Library, where he directed the Printed Materials Collection before heading the Arsenal Library from 1961 to 1980. Combining a deep knowledge of the history of the book with a rare artistic sensibility, he enriched and promoted the heritage collections while playing a pioneering role in the development of international bibliophilia. Experts: Loup Axmann and Jean-Luc Boisseau
