(R) A SET OF FOUR CHINESE LANDSCAPE PAINTINGS DEPICTING THE FOUR SEASONS Dimensions: Height 111 cm Wide 43 cm Weight 12,4 Kilograms A set of four vertical Chinese landscape paintings, each devoted to a different season. Mountains, rivers, trees, pavilions and small figures unfold in finely controlled ink and colour, with each composition varying its atmosphere through blossom, foliage, mist and more austere passages. Calligraphic inscriptions occupy the upper sections and the works are signed Zhong Sanyun. Together the four scrolls form a continuous meditation on the changing year. Spring, summer, autumn and winter are distinguished through subtle shifts of palette and vegetation rather than abrupt narrative change, allowing the group to read as a unified cycle. Mounted with patterned silk borders, the paintings combine literati landscape conventions with an elegant decorative presentation.
