(R) A KANGXI OFFERING PLATE, CHINA, 18TH CENTURY (1662-1722) Dimensions: Height 3,8 cm Diameter 27,9 cm Weight: 692 grams A porcelain offering plate painted in underglaze cobalt blue. The centre is decorated with a stylised floral bouquet emerging from pierced rockwork, encircled by a double-line border. Around the cavetto, alternating panels contain flowering branches and diaper-patterned reserves, while the gently lobed rim is moulded with shallow fluting. The reverse carries scattered flowering sprays and a central sketch mark within the recessed base. Later European silver fittings have been added to the plate, introducing a contrasting metallic element to the blue-and-white porcelain. The porcelain dish exemplifies the decorative appeal of Kangxi-period Chinese ceramics. Its crisp cobalt painting, segmented border and balanced use of the white ground give the composition a clear decorative rhythm, while the mounts document a later phase in the object's history of use and display.
