(R) A BULBOUS FAMILLE ROSE VASE WITH GILT RELIEF HANDLES, CHINA , QING DYNASTY 19TH CENTURY Dimensions: Height 36,5 cm Wide 18 cm Depth 18 cm Weight: 2555 grams A tall Qing-dynasty porcelain vase with a full baluster body, waisted neck and flaring rim, richly enamelled in the famille rose palette. The surface is organised into crowded pictorial and floral registers in rose, green, turquoise, iron-red and black, while gilt relief handles at the shoulder add a sculptural accent. Figural scenes, blossoms and ornamental borders cover the vessel in a deliberately abundant composition. Nineteenth-century famille rose porcelain frequently favoured this combination of saturated colour, dense surface ornament and applied gilt detail. Here the broad enamelled body provides an expansive field for narrative and decorative painting, while the flared neck and raised handles give the vessel a strong vertical rhythm.
