Provenance: - London Art Market (2001). - Swiss art market. - Hammer Auctions, Basel, April 17, 2020, Lot 82. - Claudine (1952–2020) and Christoph Eichele (1949–2026), Luxeuil-les-Bains. Described in 2001 as follows: "PENDANT WITH ANIMAL APPLIQUÉ Greek, early 7th century B.C. H. 8.5 cm. Bronze. Pendant in the shape of an openwork tassel, consisting of four vertical, biconical bands connected in the center by a horizontal band and converging at the ends. The finial, in the shape of a stylized horse or bird, served as a suspension loop and is therefore pierced through the center. There is a small restoration on the horizontal ring band. Probably part of a belt pendant. Pendants of this form have been found primarily in Macedonia and Thessaly, where the workshops are also presumed to have been located." Pendant in the shape of an open-work pointed sphere formed by four angled vertical strips of bronze connected in the center by a horizontal bronze band. The top is embellished with a stylized horse or bird, featuring a perforation in the center for suspension. Minor restoration to the horizontal band. The pendant likely adorned a belt. Pendants of this form were found primarily in Macedonia and Thessaly, regions where they were likely also produced.
