IMPORTANT AND ORIGINAL RUG, KACHMAR. (Iran, ca. 1980.) Midnight blue field decorated with a scattering of stylized polychrome vases and jars surrounded by floral garlands framing a central ivory-and-sky-blue medallion with old-gold scrollwork and a star-shaped, cruciform floral composition in beige in the form of an elongated diamond adorned with two . Four borders, the main one in midnight blue, feature rows of cartouches inlaid with golden-yellow floral bulbs shaped like stylized turtle shells and bluish-gray palmettes. Remarkable ruby-red border forming four spandrels with cup-shaped niches on which rest multicolored winged vials. Wool velvet on a cotton backing. Density: approximately 7,000 knots per dm².
