Ikeda '65" lower right, indicating the year of production. Ikeda Masuo (1934–1997) was born in former Manchuria (present-day north-eastern China) and, after the war, grew up in Nagano Prefecture. He began working seriously in printmaking in his twenties, establishing a distinctive style centred on themes of sexuality and life through the technique of etching.
