Garbe, 1772, 876 pp., title copperplate, in half-leather, good conditionThis is the oldest German translation of the Qur’an. "In the preface, Megerlin defends his translation against the reservations of the Catholic Church, arguing that it enables one to recognise the Qur’an as a ‘book of fables’ and to be convinced of its falsity. For Megerlin, Muhammad is the ‘false prophet’ and the Antichrist,[5] because ‘he does not profess Christ as the Mediator of salvation, does not accept the mystery of the Trinity, the sacraments of the New Covenant, or the order of salvation whereby one is saved through faith, and furthermore propagates his political sham-religion by force of arms wherever he can’. The Turkish Bible helps “to get to know Muhammad and his book of lies better, and to ask God to bring a swift end to this violent empire and its superstitious religion as set out in the Qur’an.” From: Wikipedia
