With the index finger of her left hand, the subject points to an open book as a sign of her educated status. On the left is a coat of arms, consisting of a shield bearing a bow and arrow in the upper green field and, in the lower red field, a horizontal arrow piercing a red field. The shield is crowned by a helmet adorned with a figure of a man wearing a red cap and holding a scimitar. On the right of the subject is the inscription: “Eleonora Englmayerin, née Var: Szakmann, born c. 1707, painted c. 1737, oil on canvas, 90 x 68 cm, retouched creases of the canvas on the left half of the picture, minor retouching to the flesh tones and the dress, in a gilded stucco frame
