However, the artist is best known for his female nudes and portraits, which are painted with an almost unsettling self-assurance. In his landscape paintings, Kissel is committed to Neo-Impressionism. His paintings do not depict a specific landscape or even document it; rather, he regards the natural subject-which usually stems from his inner visions-as an invitation to arrive at a painterly solution.
