John F. Kennedy Assassination: Associated Press Teletype Roll (6 Feet in Length) Original 8.5 x 76 teletype roll reporting on the assassination of President John F. Kennedy in Dallas on November 22, 1963, carrying numerous Associated Press blurbs pertaining to the tragic event. Excerpts: - "President Kennedy was shot today as his motorcade left downtown Dallas. There is no report on his condition." - "President Kennedy has been shot. He was shot as his motorcade was moving along the outskirts of Dallas. A presidential aide Lawrence O'Brien says he has no information on whether the president is alive. Texas Governor John Connally also was shot. It isn't known yet whether he is still alive. When the president was shot Mrs. Kennedy jumped up and said 'Oh no.' The Secret Service ordered the motorcade to speed on to the nearby Parkland Hospital." - "The president was apparently shot in the head. He fell face down in the back seat of the car. Blood was on his head." - "Representative Albert Thomas of Texas says he has been informed that both President Kennedy and John Connally of Texas are still alive." - "The Secret Service says President Kennedy remains in the emergency room at the hospital while Governor Connally was moved to the general operating room.
