Founded in Paris in 1847 by Louis-François Cartier, the House of Cartier gradually established itself as one of the leading names in jewelry and watchmaking. In the early 20th century, Louis Cartier, grandson of Louis-François, contributed to the rise of the wristwatch by designing, in 1904, a watch for his friend, the aviator Alberto Santos-Dumont. He then created the Tank in 1917, whose geometric lines became a benchmark in watch design. With its Roman numeral dials, blued hands, and instantly recognizable case shapes, Cartier developed a distinctive aesthetic language. Since 1983, the “Panthère” models have redefined the watchmaking codes of this house, which has combined jewelry-making tradition and Parisian elegance for over a century. Specific Terms of Sale: Please note that all watches are sold “as is.” No warranty is provided regarding their operating condition; therefore, a service is recommended. Some watches have been opened to identify the type and quality of the movement, including water-resistant watches; therefore, the buyer is advised to consult a watchmaker to have the watch’s water resistance checked.
