Roman artist, circa 1820-1830. Goldfinch perched on a branch, micromosaic on a marble plaque (8x13 cm) (defects). For comparison, see: M. G. Branchetti, Collezione Savelli. Mosaici minuti romani, Rome, 2004, p. 112. The composition stands out for the high quality of the preparatory drawing. In terms of execution, it features the use of extremely small, predominantly rectangular tesseræ. The elongated layout of the composition and the curvilinear profile lend a particular elegance to the rendering of the plumage. The depiction of a small bird in profile, perched on a branch, is a subject documented since the very beginnings of micromosaic production. See, in this regard, the mosaic signed and dated "Angelo Tomberli Romano Fecit 1786" (A. González-Palacios, Una raccolta di mosaici minuti, Auction 799, Finarte, Rome, 1991, no. 10) and those created by Giacomo Raffaelli (D. Petochi, M. Alfieri, M. G. Branchetti, I Mosaici Minuti Romani dei secoli XVIII e XIX, Sesto Fiorentino, 1981, p. 181). IT Artista romano, 1820-1830 circa. Cardellino posato su un ramo, micromosaico su placca in marmo (cm 8x13) (difetti) Per confronto si veda: M. G. Branchetti, Collezione Savelli. Mosaici minuti romani, Roma, 2004, pag.
