Del Vecchio Manufactory, Naples, circa 1830. An antique-style biscuit porcelain equestrian group depicting Ferdinand IV, King of Naples, on a rectangular base with claw feet. Impressed mark under the base and on the turf "del Vecchio N" (27x35x13 cm) (defects and restorations). Provenance: Private collection, Palermo Sotheby's, Milan, 10 July 2007, lot 354 Bearing the "N Del Vecchio" mark, this group is a key document for the history of Neapolitan biscuit porcelain following the closure of the Royal Manufactory. It continues the Ferdinandian legacy while showcasing a unique paste with highly recognizable qualities. The work faithfully replicates the King's equestrian statue modeled by Filippo Tagliolini in 1788. Active since the 18th century and under Bourbon patronage, the Del Vecchio factory underwent a crucial phase under the direction of Cherinto (1810–1830), winning an award at the 1830 Naples Exhibition for its use of local materials. Porcelain production ceased in 1849, a few years before the manufactory's definitive closure around 1855 IT Manifattura Del Vecchio, Napoli, 1830 circa.
