Vertical pair of impered, impered 10-centime bistre stamps (Napoleon III type). The stamps bear the highly sought-after “Petits Chiffres” dotted diamond, bearing the official number “3709,” which is unique to the French office in Smyrna. Clear circular date stamp “SMYRNE / TURQUIE” dated May 17, 1859, and the black rectangular “P.P. " (Postage Paid). Splendid impression of the circular date stamp from the destination office, “CONSTANTINOPLE / TURKEY,” dated May 19, 1859.
