346 - British helmet shell bearing the insignia of the 12th Trench Mortar Battery. The helmet shell lacks a reinforcing ring, but it could be an MkI from which the ring has become detached. Traces of non-reflective khaki paint remain, along with a front insignia consisting of a small inverted red triangle with a flaming grenade at its center. This insignia is identified as that of the 12th Trench Mortar Battery. One of the chin strap bail attachments was repaired during the period. Signs of wear and patina.
