ÉMILE GALLÉ (1846–1904) The Chimeras Pair of matching wall-mounted consoles. Pieces in polychrome glazed ceramic with gold accents fired in a kiln; the title motif is rendered in high relief and embellished with floral motifs in the Asian style. The upper surfaces evoke red chalk drawings. 1880s. Restored. Each sconce is signed with the registered monogram E ╪ G and “Émile GALLÉ à Nancy” on the inside of the back.
