Pair of loudspeakers by André CHARLIN. An electroacoustician born in 1903, André Charlin is the inventor of a large number of patents, including the acoustic labyrinth, the principle behind the “columns.” The column shape was chosen because it is rigid and dampens vibrations; this 120-cm-tall model extends down to 30 Hz in the bass range. Dating from the late 1960s to early 1970s, this pair of speakers represents the culmination of Charlin’s work; the body is textured cream-white, the top features a gold grille, and the entire unit sits on a small base. Naturally very fragile, it is exceptionally rare to find a pair of floorstanding speakers in such pristine condition. Signed on an aluminum plaque: A. Charlin Paris. Includes cables.
