Denis Monfleur (born in 1962) Sculptural lamp Wood, direct carving Signed “Monfleur,” the artist’s monogram, and dated 97 1997 H36.6 W14 cm In very good original condition Denis Monfleur is a French sculptor born in Périgueux. Self-taught, he initially worked with wood and marble before devoting himself primarily to granite. He practices direct carving, following in the tradition of Constantin Brancusi, Ossip Zadkine, Alexandre Noll, and Eugène Dodeigne. His work can also be compared to that of his contemporary Christian Lapie. He is represented by the Galerie Claude Bernard. In 2023, the Musée des Beaux-Arts in Bordeaux dedicated the exhibition “Peuples de pierre” to him.
