Obverse: Head of Liberty facing left, wearing a Phrygian cap adorned with a wreath of cotton and ears of wheat. Legend “E · PLURIBUS · UNUM,” thirteen stars, and year of issue. Design by George T. Morgan. Reverse: American eagle with outstretched wings holding an olive branch and arrows, surrounded by a wreath; inscriptions “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA,” “IN GOD WE TRUST,” and “ONE DOLLAR.” Mint mark below the wreath, when present. Lot composition: 1879 $1 coin—Philadelphia, no mint mark—mintage 14,806,000. 1884-S $1 coin—San Francisco—mintage of 3,200,000. 1884-O $1 coin—New Orleans—mintage of 9,730,000. 1885-O $1 coin—New Orleans—mintage: 9,185,000.
