Simone Negri Occurrence #116 Wall sculpture Porcelain stoneware and blue ceramic pigment Date of creation: 2022 H38 L31 P31 cm In this piece, Simone Negri uses a blue ceramic pigment that permeates the material rather than simply covering it. The fine, dense porcelain stoneware thus retains the trace of the unique gesture that gave it form—a founding principle of the Italian ceramicist’s artistic practice. With a depth equal to its width, the piece moves beyond simple relief to assert a true three-dimensional presence on the wall. The blue—deep and shifting with the light—lends the work a contemplative quality.
