Eric Jourdan Tolozan Lounge chair, polystyrene sheet, polyurethane foam, beech veneer Tubular steel For Ligne Roset, France, 2002 H85 W76 D138 cm Trained at the Beaux-Arts in Saint-Étienne and then at the École des Arts Décoratifs in Paris, Éric Jourdan joined Luigi Colani’s studio in 1987. He exhibited at the Fondation Cartier in 1991 and was given carte blanche by VIA in 1995. Beginning in 2002, he designed for Ligne Roset and Cinna; as an educator, he has directed the Cité du Design and the École Supérieure d’Art et Design de Saint-Étienne since 2024. The Tolozan lounge chair, one of his first pieces for Ligne Roset, plays on the contrast between materials, contours, and volumes: a curved seat and backrest, an asymmetrical armrest, and a footrest. A highly cohesive style that blends graphic precision with understated sensuality.
