Pierre Gonalons All Around, Model 220 Sofa Frame, seat, and backrest made of plywood; polyurethane foam Fabric: linen and cotton (Métaphores) Year designed: 2018 H70 W220 D75 cm Inspired by designer Kazuhide Takahama’s revolutionary creations for Dino Gavina, the concept behind this sofa pays homage to the city of Bologna and the thousands of columns that line its streets. In its longest version, measuring two meters twenty, the All Around sofa fully embodies the series’ principle: an architecture of simple volumes, inspired by the columns of Bologna, which Pierre Gonalons transforms into comfortable furniture. The reference to Kazuhide Takahama—a Japanese architect who settled in Bologna at the invitation of Dino Gavina—is evident in the clean geometry and minimalist forms. The linen and cotton fabric from Métaphores, a French manufacturer of upholstery textiles, lends a natural and refined texture. A piece designed for the living room, it embodies the designer’s dual cultural heritage, blending classicism and modernity.
