PichiAvo Opus Tectorium V Fresco painting on lime mortar applied to a panel 2026 H50 L50 P6 cm Formed in Valencia in 2007, the Spanish duo PichiAvo consists of Juan Antonio, known as Pichi, and Álvaro, known as Avo. Coming from the graffiti scene, they have developed a visual language that combines Greco-Roman statuary with urban art, through painting, sculpture, and monumental installations. The title of this work refers to the “opus tectorium,” the plaster base for ancient murals described by Vitruvius: against an earth-red background, a male figure inspired by ancient sculpture stands out, crisscrossed by graffiti symbols and lines. The grainy texture of the mortar and the irregular contours of the plaster evoke a fragment of a fresco torn from a wall.
