252 - Matteo Thun

Matteo Thun Camino Matteo Fireplace Marble H128 W117 D17 cm 150 KG For this fireplace surround, which bears his first name, Matteo Thun applies to marble the formal freedom he inherited from his Memphis years. The fireplace, a central element of the traditional home, becomes here a design object in its own right, where geometry and the choice of stone shape the room’s decor. Weighing 150 kg and standing nearly 1.30 meters tall, the piece makes a strong architectural statement. It exemplifies the dialogue, within postmodern Italian design, between traditional noble materials and a contemporary aesthetic.
