Kerstin Hörlin Holmquist Lili Eva Pair of armchairs Wood and fabric 1958 H77 W70 D73 cm Perfectly reupholstered Kerstin Hörlin-Holmquist was one of the few women to make a name for herself in postwar Swedish seating design. As an interior designer for Nordiska Kompaniet—the Stockholm department store that played a central role in popularizing Swedish Modern at the time—she designed armchairs with soft, enveloping silhouettes. This 1958 model combines an exposed wooden frame with a generous seat, striking a balance between comfort and lightness that is characteristic of her work. Both armchairs have been completely reupholstered.
