Simone Negri Accadimento #220 Wall sculpture Stoneware and copper oxide 2026 H48 L48 P8 cm With this square format designed for the wall, Simone Negri transposes the principles of the Accadimento series into the realm of the painting. The work’s thin profile and frontal orientation invite an interpretation akin to materialist painting, in the tradition of Alberto Burri and Lucio Fontana, for whom the surface itself became the event of the work. Rather than a covering glaze, the copper oxide allows the stoneware to show through and produces variations in hue resulting from the firing process. A recent piece that places ceramics within the realm of abstract wall sculpture.
